Did you know that Dog adoption and fostering saw a 700% rise during Covid-19? Yep, that’s right, shelters around the country had their kennels empty for the first time. How incredible! Now that 8:00 to 5:00 is more likely to be from home, many people need a companion and finally feel like they have the time to love on a four-legged friend. However, even before Covid-19, statistics show that 73% of Millennials own a pet. In the housing market, we see it more and more. Landlords are adding fences to seem more appealing to possible tenants, while apartments are adding dog parks and dog runs, and even adding private yards on the first floor.     

Is it possible that Millennials are also sincerely considering the needs of their pups when buying for the first time? You betcha. There are many benefits of owning a home over renting. Some include forced savings through principle, property appreciation, and tax savings.

We know that Millennials also are having kids at a later age than any other previous generation, but why would that stop them from reaping the rewards of owning a home? My fury babies need a yard and plenty of space just as much as your kids. Just kidding… kind of. Your pet will most likely be at the house more than you, so it is important to consider what they will need!

Austin Dogtown. They were so great with our boys Wes and Benji! On their first day we received the cutest report card and picture. After spending a full weekend there the dogs were so tired from the playing but they didn't want to leave!
