As a new homeowner, you may be eligible for a tax break from your property taxes by applying for a homestead exemption on your principal residence. Homestead exemptions remove part of your home’s value from taxation, so they lower your property taxes.

If you are a new homeowner in the past year, you may file your homestead exemption between January 1st through April 30th. Below are the links to the Homestead Exemption applications for Travis, Williamson, Hays and Bastrop Counties.
